The mysterious John Trolinger
[Picture found at The Haw River Museum. Thanks to Gayle Knauff]

Memorial prior to 1949 found in "Centennial History of
Alamance County 1849 - 1949" by Walter Whitaker and pubished on-line by Mary Ellis.
Note the tree, a space that is now empty.

Authors Notes:
This is truly "God's Acre" where the "Shadows point to the mill at sunset"

With three visits accuracy of this information is most assured.
This then compared with a partial list found in the Orange County Library (un-dated) in Feb 2001
from which I filled in two of the years that were missing for James Daniel.

There are many more readable markers in this Cemetery that I have not recorded. On request
I will transcribe.

The MAJORITY of the markers in this cemetery are un-readable small (18 inches high) headstones.

Note that some of the Gravestone pictures have been enhanced digitally
or were taken with IR film then enhanced. This was to make them readable.
No touch up work was done.
I did not touch the stones although some appear to have been scrubbed
or scraped as seen in the IR film.

The earliest that these readable markers could have been placed is 1844.
